Jakkia Pierce-Jamison
The Passionate Tutor
Jakkia Pierce-Jamison a native of South Carolina and graduate from the Technical College of the Lowcountry, and the University of South Carolina Beaufort with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Jakkia also attended Liberty University and graduated with a Masters of Education degree in School Counseling grades (K-12). Jakkia is currently pursuing a doctoral degree (Ed.D) in Curriculum and Instruction to expand her knowledge that will lead to a rewarding job of being a courageous leader.

Jakkia's School Years
Attending secondary school and university in her hometown allowed her to gain insight and be successful thanks to her wonderful teachers and professors. Jakkia found the most joy in taking classes that were not appealing to her classmates. Although her peers found her topics of interest boring, she enjoyed learning the material presented to her. Jakkia also realized that the professors were the ones who made her learning experience great! Jakkia's professors engaged with the students, and were passionate about their job and went the extra mile if she needed help. Her teachers and professors have definitely made her learning experience a great one throughout the years.
Passion for Teaching
Jakkia loves working with children. She worked with elementary and middle school kids grade PreK-8, and assisting children with special needs, such as autism, cerebral palsy and down syndrome. Jakkia currently serves English as second language (ESOL) students teaching 2nd and 4th grade students.

This experience has broadened her horizons and inspired her to help children succeed and tell them how important it is to finish school. If a student is facing difficult challenges in school, it's ok to ask for assistance.

Since working in education, Jakkia finds it sad that some children could barely read or write. She feels it is her duty to help these children in any way that she can and create new ways for them to learn the material presented to them in the classroom.

Jakkia has 12 years of tutoring experience. She can tutor in various settings for small and large groups, as well as private individual sessions. She creates lesson plans to introduce the topic in a fun and creative way. After she introduces the material, she always gives time for each student to practice and study on their own. This method is adjusted according to the student’s individual needs and subject.
